Been playing both a lot lately and decided to buy both games digitally when they drop to $40. I'd give the edge to PES, but the FIFA demo is a lot of fun too. I wish Amazon's Prime savings applied to digital purchases too.

That's two soccer games too many. Get ahold of yourself, man.

It's strange because I don't even watch soccer and can only name two players...Christie Rampone, because she's from a neighboring town and Messi (I don't even know his first name), but for some reason I love playing soccer video games. I've played these two demos more than any other and keep going back and forth about which one I like better, but I think I finally settled on PES 2017. The gameplay and ball physics are definitely better than FIFA '17 and to my surprise, the graphics are better too. I was sort of expecting FIFA to blow PES away this year in graphics with the move to Frostbite, but PES looks and animates better in my opinion. Either way, I'm anxiously awaiting them to go on sale digitally.

FIFA 17 is now $40 on Amazon. Hmmm...

Looks like I bought in at the right time:

Jason

The patch is out this morning for PS4 and Xbox One. Looking forward to trying it out.

Jason

Just picked up PES 2017 from Amazon for $40.

Jason,

Why both?  What does one give you that the other doesn't?  Is there something in each one that makes you want to play each one individually?  Just curious.

Jason

They play differently enough that I don't mind owning two games of the same sport. While FIFA is by no means an arcade-style game, it has more of an arcade feel to it than PES. The graphics and presentation add a lot too.

PES just plays a great game of soccer. It's challenging and fun with the best ball physics of any sports game. It also doesn't get a lot of credit for its graphics, but they're very good too. I think this is the third year with the Fox engine and it's improved visually every year.

Both games have decent demos available and are definitely worth checking out. As I said before, I'm not even a soccer fan but I love playing soccer video games. I've been playing FIFA non-stop since I got it, so now's a nice time to switch over to PES for something new.

I've always purchased multiple titles of the same sport when I considered both games to be good (Madden and NFL 2K, NBA Live and NBA 2K and MVP and MLB 2K). That's not even counting the college editions of some of those games like NCAA Football, NCAA Baseball and NCAA Basketball. Both FIFA and PES provide enjoyable, yet different styles of video game soccer.
