First little bit of info from a few days back. I always like added presentation as long as they do not screw up the gameplay. I would love to have more cameras this year (even if it is the same ones as Madden).

Custom Playbooks
Custom playbooks are in the game this year, and the interface to tweak your selected plays is really intuitive. Beyond just picking plays, you can even switch the three plays you see on each page of your playbook. So that means while you are in a game, you can flip through your playbook and know what three plays are on each page of that playbook.
Brent's Graphic whore section
Grass, weather and lighting also received love. The grass is now 3-D, and it looks great. However, while it looks awesome to have your feet digging into this surface, it does not mean it will necessarily help foot planting and so forth. I still felt a little floaty when using players, so it's more a cosmetic change than a gameplay change right now.
But the grass kicking up and the overall change of the lighting helps highlight a lot of positives because the shadows and so forth change during the course of a game, which adds a ton to the overall look of the game. The team did not go through and update the entire graphical engine, but the lighting changes make it look like a ton of time was spent updating the game. And while I did not get to see the snow, I was also assured the field would not be completely covered in one thick layer of snow. Now it will look more natural rather than just a white blanket.
Plus a bunch of other stuff, including gameplay improvements when you click the link.

Thanks to a screen grab of a loading screen in NCAA Football 12 posted over at The Gaming Tailgate (http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/) we now know the first few new features for Online Dynasty. The web integration for the mode, which last year introduced the ability to recruit and change depth charts, will now allow for commissioners to advance weeks. Users will also be able to call games against the CPU with ‘Super Sim’ providing a new element of strategy for those who would rather manage than play.
As a commissioner firing up the game with the sole purpose of advancing weeks has represented arguably the most irritating task of running an OD so making that possible to complete right from the web will be a welcome addition. What isn’t completely clear is whether “calling your games against the CPU†is exclusively a web feature or if that is an expansion of the ‘Super Sim’ feature in general. The way it is phrased it could be interpreted either way.
I was surprised to hear in the video that the demo has already been submitted for certification. I'd love to see a demo out by the end of May.

Demo News
EA SPORTS held a monthly uStream event today that focused on NCAA Football 12. While the majority of the show featured in-depth developer discussion regarding Presentation and Gameplay upgrades, some new information was released regarding the demo and also a new game feature - Coach Mode. Continue on for more info.
Some of the show highlights:
- The demo will feature two match-ups (TBA) that will allow users to unlock five Nike Pro-Combat uniforms. The other five will be available for EB Games/GameStop pre-orders. However, Producer Ben Haumiller disclosed that the pre-order uniforms will be made available at a later date for all NCAA 12 gamers.
- There is no current release date for the demo, but it is expected to be available after E3, which is held in early June.
- In response to a community question, Designer Greg Heddlesten stated that stat overlays will be more frequent and not only indicate yardage milestones, but also average (and below average) performances.
- Four of the different crowd audio recordings were played to showcase the difference users will hear when playing at a large stadium as compared to a smaller stadium.
- Executive Producer Roy Harvey visited the set and announced a new feature: Coach Mode. This mode will allow users to call the plays and pre-snap adjustments while watching the CPU execute the plays in a broadcast style camera.
- A new screenshot was shown, featuring a night game between Alabama vs. LSU.
- Dynasty info will begin to emerge on May 23 while information regarding Road to Glory improvements will be announced around E3.

Howell is the first dedicated designer assigned to NCAA Football's "Road to Glory" career mode, introduced in 2005 and fairly neglected for the past few years. Joining EA Sports less than a year ago, Howell's only job is to breathe new life into one of sports gaming's first singleplayer career modes.

This year, you can do whatever the hell you want. You can take the Big 12 and drop it down to four teams or go nuts and crank it up to 16. You can set it so that your conference only plays weekday games, name the divisions, and even mess with who gets to go to which bowl. NCAA Football 12 gives you the keys and lets you drive the game wherever you want it to go.
Oh yes, I shall be bringing you back my old friends.

I think all that online dynasty goodness comes at a price.
Only if you want to use the web, which I would probably never use having the 360 next to my computer. Most of my time with NCAA 12 is spent offline so all the dynasty options and even the revamped road to glory are great.

Oh, that's not too bad. I can live without web access to the online dynasty, even though they offered if free last year. I guess they're trying to nickel-and-dime the gamers as much as possible now.
Everything offered on the web last is year is still free. They are only charging for the new items this year. They did charge for running multiple online dynasties last year but have dropped the price dramatically this year AND included the new features in it.

•You can super-sim your games versus the CPU on the web â€" including calling plays, modifying your depth chart, and more. You can also pause the game at any time, sim forward a quarter, etc. Again, however, this will cost you a one-time fee of $2.99 or 240 Microsoft Points

Looks like they finally made the playing-calling screen work like Madden's - you push down to move through your plays (with an indicator on the side to show how far you've gone), instead of across and can choose any of the three plays using the "X", "A" and "Y" buttons instead of having to move your play to the center box and hitting "A" only. Glad to see those subtle, yet important changes made. NCAA may have been the better football game last year, but Madden had the better play-calling screen.
I'm hoping Amazon offers some type of credit with the purchase of NCAA Football this year. They're already offering a $20 credit with the purchase of Madden.
Just played a quick demo game and while most the game feels the same, the line play and new collision system really are nice improvements this year. The cut scenes don't stutter anymore either.
Looking forward to playing the demo tonight.
Two things I learned from the demo. The Texas QB Gilbert is not very good (so they hit the mark there) and the QB for Bama is horrid. I dominated both and won both games by a couple TD's on AA. FSU could be a fun team to play with having a QB that is very fast and can throw, not to mention having a really good RB to boot. Almost scared me playing with them knowing my Sooners have to play them on the road this year.
The 3D grass was a joke. Only in cutscenes and the grass looks worse than previous years past as it is really patchy. Someone at EA needs to hire the Guru of Grass, George Toma, for next gen games. :)
Tackling and running feel better than last year and you can see how they improved the zone defense. I might actually use it in more situations now.
Amazon came through and is now offering a $20 credit with the purchase of NCAA Football 12. I can use that towards Madden 12, which also comes with a $20 credit, which will then go towards NHL 12.
NCAA Football Designer Ben Haumiller has released a blog discussing a feature that has made the cut, as well as notes for the first Title Update (available on release day, 7/12) for NCAA Football 12.
Hey Everyone, Ben Haumiller here and since we are just a few short days away from Tuesday’s launch I wanted to give you the low down on the launch day title update as well as give an update on the new Week Advance Anywhere feature for Online Dynasty. The update has already been approved by both Sony and Microsoft so the first time you pop that disc in the tray you will get the prompt for the update as long as you are online.
Before I get into the details of what’s in the update, I first wanted to talk about why an update is available on launch day. With the timing of the development cycles for NCAA and Madden we always reach a deadline where we can no longer take updates from the central gameplay team. Once we reach that point our focus is 100% on getting the game ready to submit to Sony and Microsoft so that we can meet our street date and get the game on the shelves. While all of this is going on the gameplay guys are still hard at work as they are driving towards Madden’s deadline. A lot of our launch day update is comprised of the tuning and bug fixing that was done after our cutoff date. This allows us to provide you with a gameplay experience that has received an extended development cycle as we are able to reap the benefits of Madden’s later release date.
Also, the feedback we received from you in the community based on your impressions when playing the demo played a part in determining what made it into this update. A number of issues that were brought up through the demo are addressed in this update, and there are others we are continuing to look into for future updates.
Now that I’ve had a chance to talk about why the update exists, let’s get to the goods and go into what’s in that update:
The first update I’ll mention is 100% the result of you in the community making your voice heard about a feature you wanted to see added. With the update you will now be able to edit rosters from inside of Dynasty mode. Plus, in Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit rosters. It’s almost unheard of to have a new feature added during a title update as we tend to focus more on updates to what already exists in the game, but we wanted to take the opportunity to show you guys our appreciation for being such a dedicated, hardcore fan base.
In Dynasty mode, many of you expressed frustration over CPU controlled teams over signing players at certain positions in future years. This is an issue we fixed early in the cycle for NCAA Football 12, but as can sometimes be the case in software development, a fix to one bug can introduce a bug or revert a fix somewhere else. Unfortunately that was the case with this issue as we reached the end of the development cycle. In this update, position maximum caps have been instituted to prevent the CPU from being able to over sign at a position.
Fixing exploits and issues that can cause one person to grieve another in an online game are major things we look to address in updates. We were able to identify a number of those issues and include them in this update. Here are the exploits and the potential online grieve we have addressed:
- Fixed an exploit involving manual direction changes for receivers that was allowing for “jetpack catches†on streak routes.
- Fixed an exploit where defenders were not switching assignments properly when an outside receiver was put in motion.
- Removed an exploit that allowed for pitching on QB sneaks.
- Fixed an exploit that involved hot routing a PA pass while under center and running with the QB.
- Fixed an exploit in the 4-2-5 where the ROLB was not being blocked in certain offensive formations.
- Fixed an exploit with the QB Contain assignment.
- Fixed an exploit with the Fake Punt Pass which was caused by linemen getting cut blocked too frequently.
- Fixed an online grieve that could be performed on Xbox 360 by repeatedly pulling and inserting a Memory Unit during a play.
Here are the other issues addressed in this update:
Gameplay
- Fixed an issue with the velocity of receivers when attempting to catch a pass that prevented catch animations from playing in certain situations (i.e. the ball bouncing off of a receiver without them making an attempt to catch it).
- Fixed an issue with blocking assignments where offensive linemen were not correctly picking up defenders that went from man coverage assignments to chasing down the ball carrier on running plays.
- Fixed an issue with offensive players who were out of position to make a block too often due to their assignments getting crossed with another player when determining who to block mid-play.
- Fixed an issue where defensive coverage assignments were not updated correctly when the offense called an audible.
- Fixed and issue that was causing defenders to play the curl route too effectively.
- Fixed an issue where the play was not always whistled dead when the kicking team touched the ball.
- Tuned and fixed issues with AI ball carriers running decisions and use of special moves (jukes, spins, etc.)
- Fixed an issue where fumbles were being called too often on a late throw away during a sack.
- Fixed an issue where a safety playing deep zone did not cover properly against a Trips set.
- Fixed an issue in 2 Man Under where the Free Safety did not cover the deep post route properly.
- Fixed an issue with Cover 1 in the 4-2-5 where the safety was attempting to cover a WR on the other side of the field.
- Fixed an issue during post and pre-play where player’s heads would snap to change what they were looking at, which looked very awkward.
- Fixed an issue to prevent linebackers from man aligning when in Cover 3 Zone.
Dynasty
- The PAC-12 Championship game logo has been added and appears both in the UI as well as on player’s uniforms during the game.
- Fixed an issue on the Job Openings screen of the Coaching Carousel that always defaulted you back to the top of the list.
- Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where multiple Dynasty members using the same playbook caused a bug preventing both users from being able to edit their playbooks.
- Fixed a timing related crash bug that occasionally occurred when backing out of a Dynasty from within the coach editor.
- Fixed an issue with Custom Conference scheduling with moving a school from one division to another in a 13 or 15 team conference that resulted in some schools only having two conference games in a season.
- Fixed a rare issue where as a coordinator you were not on the field for plays when you should be.
- Fixed an issue with record breaker banners in Online Dynasty that caused the banner to appear too often.
- Fixed an issue where custom playbooks were not displayed properly for coaches when at the Coaching Carousel screen.
- Fixed and issue where edits to a coach where not being saved properly if you went directly into an online game after making the coach edits.
Online
- Fixed a very rare crash that occurred when entering online games on PS3.
- Fixed various disconnect and dysnc issues.
Road to Glory
- Fixed an issue that prevented you from using team colored gloves once you got to college.
- Fixed an issue where stat banners in-game showed only solo tackles instead of total tackles for a player.
General
- Included the ability to change the CPU controlled team’s playbook at team select.
- Fixed an issue in Custom Playbooks where removing too many formations resulted in an empty playbook.
- Fixed an issue with the look of the sparkle on helmets in night games.
- Fixed an issue where extremely long highlights would start to get choppy after the first five seconds of playback.
Week Advance Anywhere Update
One of the new features we have added for Online Dynasty is “Week Advance Anywhereâ€, a premium DLC feature that allows commissioners the ability to advance the week of their Online Dynasties from the dynasty.easports.com website. To ensure that we are delivering a feature that is of the highest possible quality, we have made the decision to delay the launch of Week Advance Anywhere until August. Our other premium DLC feature in Online Dynasty is “SuperSim on the Web†which will be available at launch for a new onetime fee of $1.99. If you decide to purchase the Commissioner Bundle DLC for $6.99 before Week Advance Anywhere goes live, you will receive the ability host up to five Online Dynasties as well as access to SuperSim on the Web. Once Week Advance Anywhere becomes available it will be automatically unlocked and available to be used.
If you purchase the Commissioner Bundle after Week Advance Anywhere goes live you will get the ability to host up to five Online Dynasties, SuperSim on the Web, and Week Advance Anywhere for $6.99. After Week Advance Anywhere goes live, you will still be able to purchase SuperSim on the Web for $1.99 or you can purchase Week Advance Anywhere for $2.99 which will also include access to the SuperSim on the Web feature.
Well, there you have it. The launch day title update for NCAA Football 12 with a ton of great improvements, as well as an entirely new feature, is ready and waiting. Tuesday can’t get here soon enough.

I'm enjoying my time with NCAA Football 12 so far. The one thing I've noticed is that the CPU defense plays much better this year - especially on pass defense. I'm playing on varsity and cannot complete passes with ease. I have to work my running game and surprise the defense with an occasional pass. The running game is especially good this year. For the first time ever, I can actually follow my blockers and shed tackles realistically. I'm also happy to see that NCAA went to the Madden play-calling style - Madden's was better and now there's consistency between the two.
Title Update 2Hey everyone, Ben Haumiller here and I’m happy to officially announce the details on the second Title Update for NCAA Football 12. Unfortunately I can’t give an exact release date, but it currently looks like the Title Update will release before the end of this month. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the Title Update availability here and on our social channels.
Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:
Week Advance AnywhereAs a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere†on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom PlaybooksWith this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
TendenciesAs with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results†in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/CrashesA major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
- Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
- Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
- Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
- Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
- Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
- Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
- Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
- Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
- Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
- Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
- Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
- Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
- Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
- Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
- Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
- When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
- Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
- Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
- Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
- Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.
That concludes the list of updates that will be included in the second Title Update. Once again, thank you for your continued support, as well as your willingness to help make NCAA Football 12 the best it can be.

Finally got around to starting a Dynasty after playing intermittently in the "race for the Heisman" mode (or whatever it's called now). I picked Akron (my alma mater), and opened up against OSU. I knew I was going to get killed. I'm on AA with the speed thingy set to 40. Plus, Pryor and the other "tat gate" players are in there, and not suspended.
Getting killed isn't my beef; I knew that was going to happen (Akron is the lowest rated D1 football team, with only 1 win last year). What bothers me is that OSU's #1 units played the WHOLE game! I put my scrubs in for the entire 4th quarter, and yet Pryor and company is throwing passes and scoring touchdowns with less than 2 minutes in the game. They didn't even run QB kneel once! That's pretty poor end-game AI, IMO. That, or the computer hates me.

Patch #2 is out for the PS3. Hopefully the XB360 patch drops tomorrow morning.
Patch for the 360 is now out and a new tuner update is available for both consoles. The tuner update includes:
For the tuner pack we have tuned the speed at which coaches in dynasty will achieve both an A rating as well as an A+ rating. This will prevent coaches from becoming “elite†too quickly and easily.
Player progression was also tuned to decrease the overall quickness in which players will progress.
Finally, the effectiveness of the CPU jumping the snap when adjustments were set to aggressive have been tuned down.
Now that the patch has dropped, I'll be interested to see your assessment vis-a-vis Madden.
I still think Madden is the better game, but I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one. For me, the passing and running games in Madden are slightly better done than they are in NCAA Football. Having said that, both games are better than last year's versions...it's just that Madden made bigger strides this year.
EA has confirmed a third patch:
Hey Everyone,
I’d like to provide everyone with an update on where we are with the two of the main issues with NCAA Football 12. Once I have more information to share, I’ll provide another update.
- No Huddle Issue introduced in title update #2
We’ve identified and fixed the “No Huddle†bug that was introduced in title update #2. Since becoming aware of the issue, we immediately began work on a resolution and this will be released in the next title update. Title Update #3 is currently in our own internal certification process and we’ll provide an update once we make it through the 1st party certification process (Sony and Microsoft).
- Transfer Fails
The team has been working around the clock to identify and address the transfer fail issues that some of you have been experiencing. While we have been successful in addressing many of the transfer fail issues that users who were stuck in “Bowl Week†were experiencing, we are still investigating the other versions of the transfer error. It’s important to let you know that the “Transfer Fail†message is a generic message and could be one of several different issues. We have been reaching out to the community to collect additional information about their Online Dynasties to help us track down and solve these issues. With the number of customizable options available in Online Dynasty, it’s imperative that we get these details in order to replicate the issues. We thank you for your continued support and detailed feedback on the issues at hand.

We'd also like to announce that the team is currently working on a fourth title update and we will announce details at a later date.
NCAA Football 12 title update #4 details have been revealed and will be available on November 8th.
Hey Everyone, Ben Haumiller here with the announcement that Title Update #4 is targeted to be available on Tuesday, November 8th. Here are the details on what's included in Title Update #4:
Online Desync fix
We've fixed a desync that was occurring when performing pre-play adjustments from the 3-4 Under defensive formation.
Road to Glory
We've fixed an issue with the playcalling AI where running plays were called too often in situations where a passing play should be called. This was most noticeable when trailing late in a game with a running back RTG character.
Online Dynasty â€" Transfer Failed
There are a few different issues that are causing Transfer Failed notifications in Online Dynasties. The majority of people ran into this error when attempting to upload data (i.e. game result, recruiting info, etc.). The fix for this issue involved more than we could do on the server side alone, and that fix is included in this Title Update. There will also be a server deployment necessary to complete the fix for these Transfer Failed issues. At this time, it looks like that server deployment will happen shortly after the Title Update is available. Once we know the exact date of the deployment we will be sure to pass the info along.
As for the remaining Transfer Failed issues, we are continuing to investigate server side fixes for these issues.
This concludes what will be included in Title Update #4. Due to additional gameplay risk involved to fix issues related to prospect tendencies in Dynasty mode, we’ve decided to forego addressing via a Title Update. To provide a little background on the tendencies issue, there are some portions of the game that convert a value to get the correct tendency, while other portions do not make this conversion. We were able to fix the tendency issue in the portions of the game that do the conversions through the Title Update, however fixing the other instances would require modification of database data, stored procedures, and code. Rather than risk the potential for this fix to cause other major data issues in Dynasty mode, the decision has been made to apply the proper fix in NCAA Football 13. Thank you for all of your support throughout the year.
Too little, too late for that title.

Too little, too late for that title.
Agreed. What's worse is that they never really took advantage of the tuner updates either. I think there was only 1 tuner update this year.
Shocking news...NCAA Football 12 to get 4th patch.
